10 years ago I rescued a dog that had severe separation anxiety and destroyed more of the house that I care to remember. After taking him to partners for their training program, he turned into one of the most confident dogs that I have ever owned. I have seen other methods of training (treat training) that wears off quickly. In the entire time that I had my dog, he never once lost any of the training that he received at Parters! I rescued another dog this past week, and I am planning on sending her to Partners at the end of May once she has all of her shots up to date.

I have 2 puppies that are terrified to walk on a leash. After trying several approaches myself, I decided to seek help. Partners. I must have had a poor trainer because I have read and heard so many great reviews but I had a horrible experience. My dogs were choked and yelled at repeatedly when they would resist walking. I'm not talking about simply pulling on their leashes, the trainer held them up in the air by their leashes, screaming NO! NO! at them while they're choking and screaming and urinating and defecating and releasing their anal glands. I was mortified. I thought they were trainers. That's not training! On top of that the trainer was very unfamiliar with my breed and mistook every thing they did as dominance. The trainer requested I leave one of them at the facility for 2 weeks so they could break her of her dominant behavior. I can't imagine how she would be treated if I wasn't there. It's been a month and my pups are even more afraid of the leash than they were before. I will not be recommending Partners. I deeply regret not stepping in to stop what was being done to my dogs. I was frozen with shock and that is my fault.

This was part of a free "puppy-lesson" promotion, intended for owners of new puppies, not serious behavioral concerns. The two puppies displayed serious behavioral issues from the moment they arrived. The client has worked as a vet assistant for numerous clinics, and had already consulted at least one other trainer. She has a number of dogs at home (8-10). When she arrived the puppies displayed such extreme insecurities, they had to be carried from her car into the training center. They were resistant and fearful BEFORE the lesson even commenced. The client demanded we fix the problem, clearly an unrealistic goal. When the trainers attempted to walk the puppy, it displayed such fear that it defecated. When the trainers tried to work both puppies together, they improved, but when worked individually, one would become aggressive. It is true the trainer had to hold the puppy up on the leash, but this was as the dog has just bitten, and broken skin, the trainer, and she was concerned about being bitten again. However, the client was right there, and could have stopped the session at any time. In fact, despite being argumentative, she requested the lesson continue. We did suggest a two week in-house training period, standard in the case of aggressive dogs. This is NOT to "break" the dog; rather it is to gradually build cooperation through non-confrontational motivational food reward based conditioning, something that takes time to do. Remember this client was demanding immediate results! To suggest we would harm a dog is ridiculous. As far as experience, the trainer is a senior behaviorist, certified Master Trainer, instructor and certified with the American Kennel Club. She is an award winning trainer, with six years of experience with more than 800 dogs, and has taught over two hundred classes. We are well known in the rescue world, and provide rehabilitation training to many breeds, including mastiffs. The client disagreed with everything the trainer stated, from feeding (the puppies were overweight) to recommending the dogs walk on leash (the client felt that was unnecessary). As a school we work with hundreds of dogs annually, and have an excellent behavioral reputation. We regret this situation ended as it did, but feel we acted professionally and in the interests of safety.
After in-house training, our 5 mo Aussie is responding beautifully. Our family is very impressed with the individual attention and respect the staff give to both our puppy and family members. We look forward to many more classes with the Partners clan in coming years. Our thanks to all the great staff. The Mitchells.

Over the past 5 years my rescued poodles and I have enjoyed many obedience and agility classes at Partners. The instruction has always been positive, clearly presented, and designed to produce results. The instructors have been great and most of all it has been fun for me and my dogs. Keep up the good work!

I have a pittbull with many "issues". After a few weeks of in-house training & ongoing weekly training sessions, he has improved beyond belief. He is now in agility classes and is much more comfortable around strangers - something I thought would never happen. I am extremely pleased!!!

We are so impressed with the individualized attention given by the entire staff at Partners. We are now in the Level 3 class with our Golden/Chow Chow and have seen tremendous results for our once dog aggressive canine. We cannot thank Monika, Kolina, Julie, BJ and Stephanie enough for all of the work they have done. We whole heartedly recommend Partners for any training and kennel needs.

We had our Australian Cattle Dog trained at Partners for the two week boot camp. He now listens and obeys commands, and is a well trained dog. Partners knows what they are doing.

It's great to see the "bootcamp" worked so well for you guys. We highly recommend it as the most effective way to train your pet. Thank you for your support. Leighton (Training Director)
Our dog needed some behavior modification and Partners was highly recommended. The result has been great and our dog now understands basic obedience and responds rather well to verbal commands. We used, and rating applies to, both the weekly group sessions and the resident training.

I've taken two classes at Partners and have signed up for a third. I can see a difference in the way my dog responds to commands, and I plan to keep up his training.

Thank you for your review and confidence in our training. I am happy to hear your dog is improved and look forward to seeing you again in class. Leighton (Training Director)
I was at the end of my rope when I brought my aggressive, fearful puppy to Partners. They not only turned her into a social puppy but taught me how to handle her as well. In addition to our training, I have a facility that will take care of her and refresh her training when I am out of town. It is a win, win situation and I know she is in good hands.

I have to thank leighton and his staff. They were able to transform my 8 year old, dog aggressive Golden Retriver. He now has many friends. I have learned more about dog training and behavior than I ever thought possible. He has continued to be great dog for several years now. Leigton and his staff are knowledgeable and caring. I would highly recommend to anyone.
