Peace of Heaven Alpacas LLC is the brain child of Bryan & Jessica Miller as a memorial to their fallen son Adam J. Phillips who perished at the age of 19 due to his tour in Iraq. Bryan, along with his wife Jessica, will be raising registered Suri and/or Huacaya Alpacas, their crias, providing agisting services, stud services, fleece production and education to the public. We also look forward to taking them to fairs for show. Our over all goal for the farm is to be a healing, therapeutic.. place for "high risk" youth to help prevent and fight addiction, as individuals, and as a family unit as a whole. Our hopes for the farm is for it to be a healing vessel. We will raise funds to begin the farm, which in turn, as it makes a profit, will be used to offer free to low cost counseling and open an AA/Alano Club in downtown West Plains, MO for 12-step self-help meetings such as Alcoholic Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Over Eaters Anonymous and various Christ-centered meetings as well. Bryan is a licensed Chemical Dependency Professional with 11 years of experience, whose passion is fighting the Meth epidemic as well as alcoholism and other addictions. He has had much success especially with women who have children. His desire is to help the children unwillingly caught up in the vicious cycle of addiction. The farm will serve as a place of refuge. He believes that by coming to the farm and communing with the animals, at risk youth will learn self esteem, self confidence, responsibility, empathy and compassion as well as learning alternatives to a drug using lifestyle. They have given inmates a puppy to raise and teach to be Seeing Eye dogs. They have found that the relationship with the dog has changed the inmates attitude and outlook. They have developed empathy and compassion where before there was none. Animal therapy works. Why not with Alpacas?
As profits come in, we will then be able to offer low to no cost counseling to the adults and the family unit as a whole. Its all about the children, who are our future. They are affected by being raised in a using household or a sober household. He prefers they be raised in a clean and sober household. He believes treatment can work and has seen many families put back together again. Meth manufacturing and use is destroying more individuals and families than anyone can possibly comprehend. People who are not addicts are effected by identify theft and burglary along with many other things associated. Having an Alpaca Farm has been a dream of Jessicas for years. Bryan was raised on a ranch as has wanted to get back to the farming lifestyle as well. We are excited about the farm and all it will offer to not only us but to countless others. Jessica, who has a gift for accounting and attention to detail, will oversee the farm and Bryan, the drug and alcohol component. (Bryan will help with the alpacas. He loves animals and farm work.) Jessica will also help by opening a 12 step group for Overeaters and Christ centered 12 step groups for people who see Christ as their higher power, are struggling with various non drug related problems and want to find recovery. Although the farm will not be a non-profit entity, it will act as one.
