Pep Boys isn't a Specialty Shop, but for general auto work tune-ups, tires, oil changes, etc., I have always been treated courteously, work has been done quickly and correctly. They've even done some work for free, for instance they charged a dead battery for me, other minor odds and ends. Once while I was getting an oil change, I noticed the tech walked around the car tightening all the lug nuts. Just an extra service. Great all around company.

I brought my vehicle in for a simple tune up. I needed new spark plug wires, plugs and a coil pack. Its a routine fix, not too hard..I just didn't have the tools or time to do it myself. I brought my car in running and dropped it off with the technician, they quoted me $500+ for the work and I signed off saying that was okay. I left and went back home with my roommate. They called me and told me that my car was ready so I returned to pick it up. When I got there, I paid and went out to my car excited about it being in perfect running condition. When I got in my car I turned the ignition and my cars engine misfired causing the engine to rattle..and then die..while I was in reverse. I went back into the store and told them they messed up my firing order. They told me that they were professionals and thats how my car was when I brought it in.It was completely false. I brought it into VW (where I had to have it towed) and they redid the work and stated in the invoice that they had to redo the work Pep Boys did. I am still fighting to get my money back from Pep Boys on account that I had to pay 2x to get the same job done. They keep on brushing me off and claim they have called corporate. I have to take them to Small Claims court now. Something I really don't have time to do but in this economy $500 is a lot!

I made a call to Pep Boys, I was given quick, accurate information. The tires were in stock and ready to be installed. It was the easiest transaction I have ever made dealing with a vehicle. I will not hesitate to use them again.
