Very disappointed in this company. Our AC stopped cooling properly this week and we had someone come out to take a look since we've used the company for routine maintenance in the past. I believe this guy's name was Joe. I was home alone with a toddler while my husband was at work. The service tech informed me that the compressor needed to be replaced for $1800 for a 1 year warranty or I could replace the entire system which would cost $3800-4200 with a ten year warranty. He pointed out that there was water all around the AC unit outside "from it working too hard" and also mentioned several times that we didn't want to be without air with a baby in the house and acted like he was doing us a favor. Of course I was concerned and thought we needed to replace the unit. Turns out the water around the AC unit was from my husband fooling with the garden hose the day before. We had someone from another company come out the next day. He replaced the filter for $90 and the air conditioner works just fine. I do not appreciate dishonesty. I only give 2 stars because of previous routine maintenance.

Came home from vacation to discover the A/C unit wasn't working (Preferred installed it about five years ago). Called and left a message that I needed help asap - (it was late Friday night and would like help the next morning - Saturday - if possible). Called again on Sat. morning and Tom said he'd be at my house around noon - very nice phone manner, no need to worry. At 2:30, I called again to ask for an update - left a message for Tom to call, please. 4:30, called again. Left another message. 5:30, called again to see if we were going to get any help (end of July - not fun in ATL w/o air conditioning). Left another message. At 6:30, left final message asking for any sort of contact at all. Gave up hope of hearing back from Tom. Called another company who showed up the next day, as promised. Seems like a simple phone call telling me that he wouldn't be coming by would have been a considerate thing to do. Late July (hot!), Preferred installed the broken unit, family waiting for any communication at all - in a sweltering house. Overall, just terribly unprofessional and inconsiderate. No phone calls returned after promising to be at my house at noon - and from a customer who'd paid them thousands of dollars for the unit in the first place. Won't be calling again.

Preferred Heating & Air is a great company. Tom, the president, is extrememly nice and professional. He will go out of his way to help keep your systems running (or replaced) at the best price. Everyone there has been superb!

We have been using this company for years and are always beyond pleased with thier work, thier profesionalism, thier customer care, and thier value. We began using this company after meeting with at least a half dozen hvac companies in regards to completing an unfinished basement. They were clearly the best company for the job and they delivered beautifully on all thier promises. We have continued to use them for an annual service contract and for a repair to the system they did not install.
