My wife and I liked the idea of placing our three-year-old son in a small preschool setting. Therefore, we decided to go with Preschool Playhouse. During our pre-enrollment meeting, my wife and I explained to the teacher/owner of the school that, due to our religious beliefs, we do not celebrate certain holidays through the year. Consequently, we asked her if she were willing to modify any activity with our son that is holiday-related (i.e. - instead of Halloween, he could do a harvest activity). She agreed. About six weeks later, we discovered that that agreement had been broken as our son was participating in holiday activities that go against our beliefs. My wife and I both addressed the matter with the owner. We also requested to meet with her to discuss the situation. The owner refused the meeting and rudely asked: "Do you want to pull him"? My wife and I found her to be very unaccommodating and unprofessional. This was discouraging, of course, because our three year old would now have to adapt to a new caregiver. Beware of this preschool. Although we did not see this red flag during our pre-enrollment meeting, the fact that the owner has little to no accountability to anyone hurts her professional growth as a preschool teacher. She is the only adult working with six 3-5 year olds all day with a closed door policy, even to parents dropping off and picking up their child. With respect to the care of our son, the owner didn't follow through on her word!
