We settled on a contract price of $1,700.00 to re-pour front steps on a rental property of ours. Also included was tuck pointing the sidewalls of the steps. The company owner would not start the job without 50% up front payment. The owner of Preventers Chimney called us and stated the job was complete, and would we meet him to pay him the balance of the payment. We met him at the job site, there was still wall tuck poimting to be done, and a step crack to fill. He informed us he had way more money in the job as it was, and needed an additional $100.00 We paid the balance owed, and the extra $100.00. The contractor promised to complete the job that day. As of three weeks later, he has not been back, and, we have called him on numerous occassions to make arrangements, we hear a short coarse answer laced with obscenities, and a promise to complete the work. He has promised three times to do it, but he has not completed the work! After several more calls, he told me not to call back, (conversation laced with obscenities), as the phone number he called us on, and gave us was his "personal cell phone". He also threatened me(the property owner) with bodily harm, and stated emphatically he would meet me there to inflict the bodily harm within two hours on a Sunday afternoon (precisely at 1:30PM). We are completing the work ourselves, and, we have learned again a valuable lesson, "buyer beware'!
