The office claimed to have checked with my insurance, and said I owed my full deductable plus 20%. I knew my deductable had been met, and they agreed to bill for it, but insisted on the 20%. Come to find out they are billing 20% of the physician actual fee, not the insurance contracted amount, which is hundreds/thousands of dollars difference. When I got back a copy of the claim it turn out I had reached my out-of-pocket, and all claims were being paid at 100% of the contracted amount. The office refused to refund any money until all claims have been paid. A smaller claim had to be resubmitted to insurance company. Even though they could see my claims were being paid at 100%, I have to wait. We had to scrape together the money for the cancer surgery, who wouldn't? We need that money as soon as possible, to pay bills and buy groceries, but they will not make any exceptions to office policy. They owe me more than a $1000 dollars, while they wait on a $300 dollar check from the insurance company, which by the way has been paid, but it takes ten business days to process it. I'm not sure how much longer it will take them to process my refund? I had difficulty communicating with this doctor. I got the feeling I was wasting his time when I asked questions. I have asked for my primary care doctor to refer me to another dermatologist who does the MOHS technique.

I've seen Dr. Ramsdell a number of times, but once he diagnosed a reaction to a medication I was on that my internist had missed. I'm really glad I went to him - it could have had a very bad ending.
