Regretfully, after almost 20 years of taking my pets to this veterinarian hospital, I have to say that today was my last visit there. My husband and I take care of a lot of stray cats and provide medical care for them when they need it, regardless of the cost involved. Today I took a cat that lives downtown where my husband works because she had a large abcess; and no, she is not the most trusting cat. She did scratch the vet when he opened the cage, to which he responded: 'I will not deal with her." I apologized for the scratches, he did not even acknowledge my apoligy. He would have to net her and give her an injection to calm her down, but it was obvious he had no intention to follow through with this and treat the cat. I assume that all the well behaved casts and dogs in the waiting room were much easier money than my wild cat. He sent me on my way with some antibiotics, telling me that cats can take care of themselves. Hours later I still feel upset and sad about the treatment I received from this veterinarian. The assisting staff has always been polite and corteous.

My experience with Rancho Mesa Animal Hospital began last year when my dog was diagnosed with a thyroid problem. When the assistant called to give me the report, she said my dog had a problem with its "indoctrine system". When I asked what that was, hoping to get an response regarding the endocrine system, she said she didn't know what it was. I went to another vet after that but recently returned when my good vet was closed. My dog needed more bloodwork and when I got home, I realized the person that shaved my dogs neck to get blood had cut his skin open. I had to go to the emergency hospital that evening and had a hefty bill for their negligence. Dr Cooper was nice though. I hope they can improve but will never return.

I love Rancho Mesa Vet Hospital. My dog has been coming here for the last 5 years. The vet staff is knowledgeable. My favorite vet is Dr. Cooper. She is very personable and takes time to speak and explains things to you. I trust them and the recommendations they have given over the years. They have been accommodating. I've also found their prices to be reasonable. They don't seem like the type of business that is just looking to make money. I get the feeling that the vets here really care for animals/patients and enjoy what they do. They have always put me at ease when it's come to things that have been out of the ordinary.

RMAH use to be the best in town, have been taking my pets there for 30 years but in the past several months I have witnesses a sever drop in service, quality and over all value. The front desk and new vets are not holding up to the quality and service I have known at RMAH. Sad but I am in search of a new facilty for my pets, I am disapointed and unsatisfied.

When our long-time vet's office couldn't squeeze in a same-day visit for our limping cat, I looked up vets on Kudzu and found this office. I got an appt easily for later that afternoon. Dr. McCrowsky was personable and understanding of the two kids I had (one a fussy toddler) in the exam room with us. I was worried about the quality of care because of previous Kudzu reviews saying she needed to work on her customer repoire but they proved unfounded. She must have taken the criticism to heart. She was very thorough in her examination of our cat. She answered my questions patiently and with care. She explained things and even invited me to look in my cat's eye to see the raised bump she observed. I never felt rushed when asking questions about options in treatment etc. and got answers to my satisfaction. I'm seriously considering switching our cats over to the care of this office. It's a tad farther than our current Mira Mesa vet office we've used for over 10 years but the care seems superior. Also, the cost was very reasonable. $45 for the office visit and $16 for the antibiotics. The office has stripped down decor - nothing fancy - which is fine with me. I want money spent in quality care, not in how the place looks.

Facility is neat and clean. The staff is very friendly and they do not try to talk you into products and services that you pet doesn't need. Much better than our former vet in University City. They also give a break to local pet rescues. Highly recommend!

Dr. Cooper and the staff are really great down to earth, very knowledgeable, and very caring. I took my beagle puppy there after I got him 2 days from a breeder in the mid west because my pup was throwing up and was very weak. After Dr. Cooper treated my pup he's doing great and I have no doubt that if I hadn't taken him there my pup would have died.I look forward to having Dr. Cooper and her staff to continue treating my dog during his life. I'm so happy that this animal hospital is 5 minutes from where I live in Mira Mesa.

Took my 12 week old puppy there for her latest set of shots. The Staff is great and very friendly. The clinic is very clean and the price of their fees is outstanding. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because Dr McCroskey was kind of limited when it came to details about my pup's health and the way ahead, making me feel like I had to probe her for information. Her bedside manner needs a little work, as she is very nice, but not too personable. I think she is new to the Vet Team at RMAH, so don't avoid this place just because of that. I've heard the two main Vets (Dr. Volk and Dr. Cooper) are really great, so I will give one of them a try next time and update my review. Overall, it was by far the best vet experience I've had in San Diego....and I've been to quite a few.

Dr. Cooper and Dr. Volk are by far the best vets in town. They don't run every test available unless they believe the test is waranted. This alone is a money saver. Two weeks after I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, I found a large mass on my boxer's throat. I raced him to Dr. Volk, who suspected a thyroid tumor. Since I was in the midst of dealing with my own thyroid problem, Dr. Volk offered to come into the office on HIS DAY OFF to run diagnostic surgery. The tumor was just a fluid filled cyst. These doctors have extensive knowledge on each breed of dog and what ailments affect each. They CARE very deeply about their patients and the staff is compassionate when you have a sick animal. I can't tell you how many times they have "worked us in" when their schedule was full. We love them!

Excellent care and you can't beat the boarding experience for your pet. They walk, play with, and treat the animals while you're away. The two veterinarians have great "bedside" manner.

I researched online beforehand for an affordable & caring vet clinic for my puppy and this place met all my expectations. It's a little of a drive from where I live but the entire staff was extremely friendly and made my puppy feel more comfortable. Also, the prices are pretty cheap! I am definitely going to continue taking my dog here.

My family has been going to this vet office for at least 15 years. They have always been friendly and caring towards us and our pets. This is the only place I will ever take my animals.

I found RMAH in the Yellow Pages late on a Saturday night when I suspected a urinary tract infection w/ my kitty. Seeing that they have Sunday hours, I called @ 8AM the next morning right when they opened and was able to get a 10AM appointment that day -- on a Sunday, too! That was the first great sign. Despite the location of the hospital next to a strip club and a truck stop place on Miramar Road, I couldn't have been more pleased when I walked in. The place was quiet -- no loud sounds of dogs barking, and the lobby/waiting area was clean, odorless and spacious. Same with the exam room -- clean with no funny odors. I was impressed because for a Sunday, 3 staff members were working at the front desk and greeted me right away. Very professional, friendly and helpful. There was no long waiting period 'til the vet entered the exam room, perhaps 3 or 4 minutes later. I was pleased w/ his service and professionalism. I found the prices very reasonable especially for a last-minute Sunday visit. I was so comfortable w/ the staff, facilities and service that I immediately scheduled a future appointment to bring my kitty back for a lion-cut grooming. That visit did not disappoint either. I was very pleased w/ the service, professionalism and reasonable prices. If you live in the vicinity of Miramar Road, I would highly recommend this place. It's not a glamorous location but it's much better than "good enough" -- what's provided inside the office/ hospital is worth it.
