I don't know how this company got good reviews on ServiceMagic, the reviews here are more true to my experience. After a tornado came through our neighborhood, we needed our roof and deck repaired. Gary was quick to come out and give the estimate and equally quick to come pick up the deposit (50% down) then....nothing. Phone calls weren't returned and when they finally were he was full of excuses. Several times he said they'd be working on x date...then I came home from work and there was NO evidence of any work being done, because he hadn't been there. It was weeks between the time he finished the roof and started the deck. Again "We'll start on x date." Again, nothing was done. It was only after we demanded some of our money back (he had broken down everything in the estimate so we were willing to let him have what he had earned on the roof but wanted the money we had prepaid toward the deck back) that he got some people over to the house. The work hus crews did was good and done quickly, but it was so much trouble getting someone out there to do the job. I feverently recommend looking elsewhere for a contractor.

Initially, I thought they were great. Reasonable price, very nice owner and good ratings on ServiceMagic. They required 50% down. Neither the owner or the woman who answered the office phone ever returned my voicemails or called back when they said they would. They scheduled my job three times, never showed up and never called to tell me why. I had to chase them down every step of the way. The day after I posted this review, the dumpster appeared in my driveway. The next day (a Wednesday), the job was completely done. The dumpster wasn't taken away until the following Monday. Though the job appears to have been done properly, dealing with the company was completely unacceptable. I don't know how they got to be so well rated on the other site. If I could give them ZERO stars, I would!!!

Scott Hobby is extremely nice and businesslike. However, once a contract is signed there is absolutely NO communication what-so-ever. Now, I can understand that circumstances arise and contractors get behind and can not begin the next project when anticipated, but every time the crew did not show up, I had to initiate the phone call. They would give me excuse after excuse (which at the beginning I didn't mind, I just emphasized to them I would like a simple phone call)as to why the crew is behind schedule. Well, this went on for approximately two weeks; I would call Scott Hobby who would not know why the crew was not at the house, he then would contact Gary Church, Gary would call me and give me more excuses. I was even told at one point that the crew would be at my house on Monday because Gary Church wanted his crew to rest on Saturday and Father's Day was Sunday and it was important that they be home with their families. I agreed with this, but when Monday arrived, you guessed it, no crew, no phone call. Again, I had to initiate the phone call. Once again, I was promised that the crew would be at the house on Wednesday at 7:30. No exceptions! Well,I bet you can guess what happened....NO CREW. Needless to say I fired them and demanded that the dumpster and materials (by the way, the materials were sitting on our driveway for at least a week and a half)be removed and that the deposit be refunded in full. In summary, no communication! Poor management!
