You might be saying WHAT? I am here to tell you that this program WORKS! My children, as a result of the education that have received from this school, are far more advanced and well-rounded than their peers. The multi-sensory learning approach that this school offers makes learning not only fun, but the retention of the information is amazing. They do not put a ceiling on the learning capabilities of the students, but instead challenge them on a daily basis. Not only do they learn the "basics", they also learn about community, responsibility, interpersonal communication, charity, and independence. This school produces intelligent, well-balanced, mindful and cultured young people. It is WORTH taking a look at for your child.

We can't say enough about RMA! Our oldest child has attended the school for four years (2 in the primary classroom and two in the lower elementary program). Our second child has attended for three years (all in the primary classroom). My children are thrilled to wake up in the mornings to go to school and delighted to talk about their day when they return home. The Montessori Method allows each child to work at his or her individual level, and my children are never bored! My second son (pre-K age) comes home raving about his work reading a beginner book (all by himself!) or working with the "thousand chain," a long chain of beads designed to help the child visualize and count large numbers. Just this week, my oldest son (second grade age) completed a full research project on the giant squid (his choice, and completed in conjunction with several classmates). This project represented four weeks of in-depth work including reading about the squid, writing a paper, completing a painting, and even learning the anatomy of the animal. The project culminated in a dissection of a squid specimen. Afterwards, the children who participated in the research cooked calamari for the class (their idea!). Next, he is planning to research snakes with a fellow classmate (again, his choice). Where else would my children be able to do things like this? Moreover, this academic work is accomplished in a peaceful, nurturing environment that addresses the whole person. We love this school!

My children came to Riverstone after my extensive research of schools while my daughter endured Kindergarten at our districted traditional public school. To make a long story short, I will just say that we went from whining and crying on Sunday evenings about hating to go to school (in kindergarten), to statements like "I can't wait to go back to school on Monday", after being at Riverstone for just a few weeks. At RMA children are not only presented advanced academic concepts through a hands-on approach using the most amazing Montessori Materials, they are also taught peaceful conflict resolution, community service, fine art, music, high standards of nutrition, respect of self as well as of others and of the environment and so much more. All this is done within a peaceful community setting where children can learn at their own pace and are allowed to make choices and to learn from their mistakes within the safety of their own school. My daughter and son have benefitted greatly from this approach to education and as a family we are proud to be part of the Riverstone community. The teachers are nurturing and kind and respectful of the children and the administrative staff is friendly and helpful. The owners of the school are always available to answer questions or address sensitive matters professionally and discreetly. The parental involvement at this school is amazing. We are very happy to count ourselves as members of the RMA family.

Both of our children are attending RMA and not only are they excelling above grade level in their academic work they are learning so much more. They are learning about community within the school as well as outside of the school. They are learning things that will help them develop self confidence and help them exceed in life as well. We could not be happier with our choice to enroll them at Riverstone Montessori!

My daughter has been a student at Riverstone for approximately 6 years. Shestarted in 3rd grade having transitioned from public school. She was encouraged to explore english and math in ways where traditional education would stifle her progress. Now we're preparing for her to graduate from the Middle School program and she is scoring at college level in math, her favorite subject. I attribute her success to the teachers and the environment that RMA fosters. When a child learns in a place that is nurturing, the sky is the limit!

The difference is truly amazing. At RMA, our children are mastering concepts and subject matter while building a foundation for life-long learning. The joy our 8 year old feels when he understands something like "cubing" cannot be compared with getting a gold star on any third grade worksheet. Our son is learning Algebra through the Montessori curriculum and materials. We were sick and tired of the stress public and even other traditional private schools put on our family to learn state requirements. RMA does not teach to any "test" and our kids still take the IOWA ITBS annually and, like their RMA classmates, have consistently placed above grade level in all subjects. As parents, we have benefited from RMA as well...but that's because we get involved in school activities... we volunteer and get to know the RMA community. Like real life, we have seen successes and what may be seen by some people as failures. Failure is part of the learning process whether it is learning to walk, perform science experiments, run a school or govern a country. There is no doubt in my mind that many of the children we have seen graduate from Middle School at RMA will become great innovators and business/community leaders.

Our child has been going to RMA for 6 years and we love this school. Every year he is working several grade levels ahead of his friends from other schools. We have found the administration to be very professional but no nonsense. What we like about this school is it is all about the children and academics. We appreciate the lack of parent drama. We tried another school before RMA and found it to be all political with more focus on raising money than actually teaching the kids. I talk with alot of the other moms and they share my experience. I would recommended RMA to anyone who wants a great education for their child.

I feel that they are very unorganized. Forgot, on several occasions, to administer asthma medication to my child. They have very rigid policies concerning parents communicating with each other. They don't communicate classroom changes to the parents and when you asked other parents what is going on, they invoke their "Strict no gossip policy" which they believe is reason to break a contract. I found that they are not interested in hearing any concerns from parents. My experience there was traumatizing, to say the least.
