You don't have to be a hobbyist to enjoy this museum. It's always fun to watch te work in progress plus learn something about how the rail system changed history and how it changed San Diego history. This museum is one of the few that is actually a project in process, so its not completely polished. This makes it alot of fun for children to see how this hobby gets created. A must see for anyone.

The San Diego Model Railroad Museum is still, to this day, one of my favorite museums to visit in Balboa Park. The model of old San diego is so life-like. So much time and hard work was put into it that it's hard not to appreciate. It really is worth the entry fee.

The workmanship of each exhibit is truly amazing. The miniture trains look so real to the lifesize ones. There are always new ones being added and it seems as if the museum will never be complete because of the ongoing construction of new ones being built.
