Had a 2003 Highlander with a coolant leak, after looking at the problem Chris has determined that the engine bolts had stripped, it unfortunately is a common problem for this model and year engine. They kept the car for two weeks . After attempting a proven type of repair that cost over $2000, engine started leak oil and coolant even worse. When we returned to Delong's, their response was basically too bad for you. They offered no type of compensation, and wanted to sell a new engine. Where is the accountability?

At Scott Delong's Auto Service we have never recommended or will ever advise a customer to install a thread repair kit in an engine block for cylinder head bolts. This type of repair is not 100% guaranteed to work. This customer was advised several times after tear down and inspection of the engine that it should be replaced. We actually quoted the customer two different prices for a re-manufactured engine and a used engine. He declined and instead wanted us to install a rethreading head bolt kit that he bought online which we recommend against. He insisted we repair the engine block this way. He was even told that this repair was not guaranteed to work. It is very unfortunate that the repair did not go as the customer wanted but he was advised that there was a risk of this repair failing. The customer was also advised at completion of the repair that if the coolant leak returned, the vehicle would have to have an engine replacement.
After taking a used car to Scott DeLong's for a pre-purchase inspection, many things were discovered that were not disclosed by the dealer. After several afforable repairs, I feel more comforable with my daughter driving a safe car.

Make sure you know up front that there is a diagnostic fee. At Scott Delong's Auto Service I was not told of this charge until I picked up my vehicle and then they hit me with a charge. They told me that they did a test drive of my truck and found no apparent problem with the vehicle. A drive around the block is not worth $90.00. After I complained they dropped the fee to $40.00. I had a transmition shop willing to look over the vehicle at no charge a few miles away but Scott Delong's Auto Service was closer to my house and since I had good service done by Scott Delong's Auto Service the last time I was there...why not let him look at it. Well never again. I feel Diagnostic fees are necessary and justified in most cases but how and what you are billed is what you need to be aware of.

I can't recommend Delong's enough! They've always taken great care of our cars, and they proved again today that their customers matter. They replaced all four ignition coils in my Camry back in February, and one of them went bad this weekend while I was out of town. Had to pay several hundred dollars to get it replaced. Then the check engine light came back on right as I was getting back home. After running diagnostics, they figured out the transmission was overheating - completely unrelated to the coil issue. HOWEVER... the work it took to diagnose the problem, change the transmission fluid, and do the oil change (I was due for one) totaled about $225. Here's where it gets AMAZING. Delong's said they wanted to make things right because they did the work on the coils and none of them should have gone bad. They did all of today's work for FREE + gave me a free future oil change to make up for the money I had to spend to replace the coil. Will I be going back to them with all my future car repair and maintenance needs? Darn skippy I will be! ♥ If you live anywhere near Marietta, GA, please take your cars to Delong's!

From a complete engine rebuild to "Oh no, my low-beam headlamp is out!" Scott and his crew consistently provide excellent service. I have been taking my cars to them for 10 years, and cannot count the number of times they have gone above and beyond and saved me time, money, and sanity.

I have had both my cars serviced at Scott's. He is personable, knowledgable and doesn't try to upsell you with uneeded fluff. It's tough to find a good mechanic but I'm glad Scott is close by.
