Navy Federal Credit Union should be ashamed. Touting Select California Auto Services as a so called benefit to its members is less than honest. It doesn't take much research to know that Select California Auto Service is taking advantage of a very over worked and over stressed military. They figure that the military is ignorant to the car biz and are ripping us off with prices that are obscene. Many of their so called member specials are priced way over retail Kelley Blue Book. They also position their operations in front of and inside the branches of Navy Federal Credit Union. They work just like the rip-off artists that sell large box home speakers (that don't work) in the parking lots of the branches on pay days. They even have a temporary car lot at Miramar Naval Air Station and collect sales tax on Federal property. Last time I checked it was illegal to do that. They show the cars, and contract (sell) them on the base, so the unsuspecting customer commits to the purchase without proper research. Now this is no fault of anyone but the buyer, but just the same this so called Credit Union enhancement is nothing more than a smoke and mirrors act to take advantage of the military. NOT GOOD! Also, most of their vehicles are not even lease returns; they are vehicles from other dealers that pay Select California Auto Services a huge broker's fee. Almost $2,000.00. So when you buy one of these cars, know that you just paid $1,700+ too much.
