At Sombrero we serve "San Diego-Style" Mexican Food
At Sombrero we're cooking the freshest "San Diego-Style" Mexican food and our mission is to serve our guests quick and quality Mexican food in a clean environment with a smile. We handcraft each menu item to order using top quality ingredients and original "casera-style" recipes.
The Sombrero Mexican Food we know today first opened in the summer of 1984, building off of the original concept dating back to the late 1960s. Javier,.. the CEO and founder, grew up serving authentic Mexican food in his parents original Sombrero located in the college area of San Diego, working in all aspects of the restaurant throughout his youth and into the late 1970s. After the completion of school and starting a family, Javier jumped at an opportunity to start Sombrero Mexican Food of his own as a quick service restaurant. By using many of the original authentic recipes, providing dine-in restaurant quality, and quick & friendly customer service, Javier started his dream of creating what Sombrero Mexican Food has become today.
Today, Sombrero Mexican Food consists 18 locations throughout San Diego County and surrounding areas and we still pride ourselves on providing the same quality and service from when we first opened our doors. Using premium meats, produce, cheese, local tortillas, spices and preparing all menu items from scratch at each of our locations, Sombrero is clearly unique. From our fresh Hot Carrots, Red, Green, and Chunky Salsas, to our Grilled Angus Carne Asada, "It's All Good!" at Sombrero. Some of our specialties include our signature over one and a half pound "Special Burrito" Jumbo Deluxe, homemade Chile Rellenos, and Fresh Bowls & Salads.
Sombrero is the place to satisfy your "San-Diego Style" Mexican food craving, so stop by and get your fix!
I used to like Sombrero's, my favorite was Special Burrito Jumbo Deluxe. Over time I noticed the prices soaring and quality sink. Last time I ate there I had major stomach pains after wards. Will Not eat there again, have had a similar problem at another Sombrero's on the other side of town. I don't have any of this when I eat at other taco shops so I know it's not the food in general it's just this chain.

There are Sombrero's all over San Diego county and thank goodness because they have the best special burritos around. It's any burrito you want with enchilada sauce all over it. Very yummy.
