As owner of Specialty Repair I was very concerned after seeing the review on 9/1/13. I need to make clear a few points that do not make sence from the previous post. First: No A/C job that comes in the door here is ever $2000 Second: My youngest son is 24 and has been at UGA for the past five years and has not been played little league in ten years. Third: We have always stood behind our work and would never hang up on a customer. I feel the review below must be for another shop or from another shop to hurt our great reputation we have had in Alpharetta for 20 plus years. Look through other reviews to see we passionately care about our customers and we treat everyone fairly.

John replaced my a/C unit (well over $2000) - when I got the car the back some of the dash vents were broken or missing pieces. I also noticed the odometer had over 200 miles on it since when he started the job - not to mention chocolate on my back leather seats. When I asked him about the miles and mess he said he drove my car for several days to test it and asked if he left his son's little league papers in my car also (which he did). He basically took my car for his personal use several days after the job. When I confronted him about it he rescinded the offer to replace my vents and basically hung up on me. STAY AWAY from this soup nazi (which other have experienced) unless you want to get ripped off.

I was recommended to John for my '90 MB 300E. Just know - he is honest, fair and direct. Do not ask too many questions, if you're the curious type. He will answer your questions, but don't worry about parts. Also, this is an established biz, with a solid, repeat customer base. Think what that means when you go there. I was happy with the quotes, but asked about which parts and prices- appearing to be "haggling" which I wasn't. 30 yrs service -he is fair, very reasonable, and honest...but chooses his customers.

John and Ray have been working on my cars for close ten years. John is extremely patient when listening to me describe any problems. He then takes the time to explain everything that needs to be repaired. The service is beyond great and the price beats all of the others. I highly recommend John and the entire family at John's Specialty Repair.

Went there first time and they checked my computer analysis and charged $0.00. In addition found nothing wrong. When I had Transmission problems, needed it rebuilt, they charged me half what the three Mercedes dealers I previously priced, wanted. That was two years ago and they do all of the maintenance I require, oil changes, tune ups, etc. In addition they are still the least expensive and their work is excellant.

I have used John for more than 12 years, and it was my car that one of the previous reviewers(tbjbhb) was so upset about.I owned that car for more than 5 years and it was a GREAT car!! They were not pressured into buying my car, and John went out of his way to help those people. He is the most honest and dependable mechanic I have ever used!!!!!!!!

My wife and I purchased a Mercedes for our daughter that John was "brokering" for 1 of his clients. They were asking about $1300 more than the KBB value. When I asked John about it, he assured me it was worth it, that he had been servicing this car for 10 years, and that he felt very comfortable that this would a reliable car. 3 weeks later it need a water pump and a new transmission to the tune of $2300. We wished we had trusted our instincts and ran, and we ecourage anyone considering doing business with John to do the same! Run!

Specialty Repair is near my work so I took my Mercedes with 57,000 miles on it there when the light indicating the brake pads were worn came on. John also volunteered that my 2 catalytic converters were loose and needed to be replaced. Of couse he would do it for 20% less than the local dealer (RBM) but that I was free to call them. The car runs great. I work with technical men and they thought this was unusual. So I called the mechanic who has kept my old '87 Volvo in good condition for 18 years. He told me that the only reason to replace a catalytic converter is flunking an emission inspection or if driving the car sounded like I was driving over metal trash cans. So I took the car for an emission inspection and they told me it was perfect. I am furious that John would try to take advantage of somebody who he thought was ignorant about cars.

John is amazing. I began using John on a referral of a co-worker, who was also referred by a friend. After using John for 4 years, it's easy to see how why he is so referred. Not only is his work fast, but it is also thorough. BMWs problems are not the easiest or least expensive to diagnose and treat. John has never-misdiagnosed and over overcharged. I leave John's shop feeling like a member of his family each time. John and his staff are just plain great people.

John has repaired my Mercedes (past and current) for the last 20 years. He is honest to a fault, fair and does great work! He is always busy, because he is so good, so work with him on timing and you won't be unsatisified. If your looking for a sleek showroom/waiting room, then John's is not your place. If you want good honest work and a fair price, then do go here. Second thought, don't go, it is too hard to get an appointment as it is. :-)
