Our son has been going to Dr. Stegman for 5 years now. He has ADHD and Dr. Stegman was and continues to be very diligent about working to find the best medication for him. Our son is doing much better in school and at home. When we have any issues we email Dr. Stegman and he gets back with us the same day. He always has ideas or suggestions about how to help in various situations. God sent Dr. Stegman to us and we are very grateful!

Dr. Stegman is not very knowledgeable on the Subject of High-Functioning Aspergers Syndrome. It does not seem he does much research on the subject. He stated that many children with Aspergers does not act out or have feelings of hurting themselves. I have read many stories of children with Aspergers and have read otherwise. I was so frustrated with him. This seems to be a Dr. pushing pills with no other resources to contribute. Dr. Stegman was not listening to our child's needs and then let us leave his office upset without any remorse. He provided nothing just a referral to see a different doctor.

Dr. Stegman will tell you that science knows neither the cause or cure of autism spectrum disorders, and that he does not believe in diets, etc. However, if you do your research, you will find that diet and gut functions are much better understood than when Stegman was board certified in 1987. For example, "Methionine Transsulfuration to Cysteine and Glutithione". Stegman relies on his own experience alone, does not research.

Dr. Stegman was originally a pediatrist, and became a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrist after years as an excellent general pediatrist. He has now been a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrist since 2002. Unfortunately, he may not take new patients any more. His staff has handled my family's needs as quickly as needed. Yesterday, a Friday, a message to order a prescription did not get to Dr. Stegman in time for him to order it. Today, although his office was closed, the office switchboard reached him when he was out of town. He was very nice to me regarding the need for the medicine and immediately prescribed the medicine to my pharmacy. I am so thankful that he was able to act immediately to order the medicine. He has been very confidential about my childrens' personal issues that need his attention. He has also been able to relate their individual problems to issues in their environment, academically and socially.
