I interviewed contractors almost a year before actual work began. I knew from the first interview that I was going to hire Sterling Works for my kitchen/whole house remodel. The Owner, Philip Trapkin, really paid attention to what I had in mind and never stopped being helpful in design decisions during the project. The workplace was always kept neat, the work was completed in a timely fashion and, now that I have moved back into my house, I marvel every day that we were able to turn my old dark and outdated home into a bright and shiny new space. Everything about the design was well planned and I have already noticed how well the kitchen functions for the life we lead here. All the important decisions about placement/layout, traffic flow, and storage challenges were dealt with long before the space was completed. I am sure I will be enjoying my remodel for many years to come and will not hesitate in recommending Sterling Works to my friends and neighbors.

Philip and I worked together on a project for a very detail oriented customer. He was the general contractor doing a large amount of interior and exterior remodeling as well as correcting the damage from areas we had to restore. He specializes in the highest quality of work, his employees and subcontractors are artisans, producing invisible joints in stain grade trim and custom built in cabinets, and exterior features that could be in a Southern Living article. If you are looking for a quality contractor, choose Philip and Sterling Works

We hired Sterling Works to build a deck, install a door, move our AC units and outside plumbing fixture, and repair our front porch. Phil did a beautiful job and we are very happy with the final product. The work was completed on time and our few smalls concerns were addressed and corrected immediately. The deck is definitely above-average quality and we would certainly work with Sterling Works again.

Phil Trapkin of Sterling Works completed my project this month within budget and on time. The concrete and carpentry was done very well. Phil discussed all changes with me. All subcontractors worked very well under his supervision. It was high quality of work for a reasonable amount of money. I have been a home owner in Virginia Highlands for 30 years and I own a duplex in Grant Park.

I hired Sterling Works to do a remodel of my kitchen and building a closet space where a bedroom used to be. They were extremely organized and detailed. Phil Trapkin (the owner) kept me appraised of any changes to the original proposal. The price was very fair, and the work outstanding. I would highly recommend this company.

After our first meeting with Philip Trapkin of Sterling Works, we knew that we wanted him to be the builder for our home expansion project, as he took the time to study our plans and current structure and get familiar with our project at that early juncture even before we had formally named him as our contractor. As the project proceeded, Philip's accessibility and personable nature helped to make the construction process run smoothly for all of us (during what is always a hectic and stressful period for a displaced homeowner). Philip and his crew's workmanship and attention to detail became evident as our new addition took shape. But what has impressed me the most in hindsight was the adherence to the schedule we were promised at the beginning of the job. We were given an estimate of six month from the time that work began, and even with the expected frantic rush of the final two months of construction (and some unexpected weather delays) we were able to move into our home at the six month mark. In my business, I deal with commercial contractors all the time and see how construction schedules are rarely met even in the best of circumstances. For our project, Sterling Works worked tirelessly to finish at the promised time.

When interviewing contractors to put an addition on my home, I stumbled upon Philip and Sterling Works. I haven't looked back since. Philip spent a lot of time talking to me before we even signed on the dotted line and has kept me informed all along the way. He's personable and knows his industry. His bid on the project came in right where I needed it and there have not been many surprises. The crews that he has are all very friendly and polite and appear to do quality work. You don't realize until you get into this kind of project how vital it is that you really trust the person doing this, and I can say, without hesitation, that I trust the work that Philip is doing and would hire him again."

After interviewing three Kudzu 5-star rated contractors for our 850 square foot deck addition, we picked Philip. We liked his enthusiasm and attitude. Philip is committed to leaving the customer pleased. He is extremely conscientious about keeping material costs down, keeping the job site clean, and putting together a very high quality finished product. What I am most pleased with on our project are the design characteristics and the quality of the build. Philip put a lot of thought into the project before he started and it shows. The way our project is designed yielded a finished product that looks A+. The "oohs" and "ahhs" of our friends and neighbors second our opinion. The craftsmanship with which it was put together assures us it will last a very long time.

We added a bathroom to part of a bedroom recently and hired Sterling Works. He worked with us to provide a solution that was great looking and still fit in our budget. The project was done in a timely manner and Sterling Works did a great job working with all of the subcontractors to stick to that timing. We really like our bathroom.

We were referred to Sterling Works by the salesman at our local lumber yard. The projects we had to do might not be huge compared to some renovations, but they were very important to us. From our first meeting with Philip we were impressed with his design suggestions and how he listened to our concerns. Once the job started, he and his crew always showed up as promised, kept the noise and debris to a minimum and completed all their work in a timely fashion. The finished product looks even better than we had hoped for. We would definitely hire them again.

Sterling Works has completed two projects for us. One was renovating our basement and another was designing and building an outside structure. Philip Trapkin is very professional, courteous, and finished both projects promptly. Not only is Philip an excellent craftsman and general contractor, but his design work is outstanding! He cleaned up at the end of every day. Philip is great to work with.

I wish I could give more stars. Sterling Works (Philip and team) just replaced our entire entrance when our front glass door shattered. I was so impressed with his work, timeliness, communication, everything that I asked for a few more things to be completed and was stunned with the quality and craftsmanship. Philip made recommendations that vastly improved the aesthetics of our kitchen. We were so impressed, we're now planning a master suite remodel with him for next year. I definitely recommend if you're looking for quality and professionalism!
