This place has a nice ambiance & is pretty laid back. No wait for a table at 8/8:30pm on a Saturday night. Friendly staff. Rolls are good but are a bit overpriced. We were definitely not blown away by the quality of the rolls or sashimi, but they were decent. Certainly not a disappointment (until the bill comes) if you are in the mood for sushi. What we are looking for is quality sushi at a price that makes us feel like we're getting the best deal in town.

The sashimi is always fresh. I like to stick with the basics: salmon, yellowtail, and toro to wrap it up. Suggestion: If you like toro, order it right away when you get there. Sometimes they run out. The toro cuts are superb -- like butter! On top of all of that, there's a decent sake list. And for dessert: their mochi ice cream is fresh -- which makes all of the difference.

I have been a customer of Nippon since they opened & thye have the Freshed & Best Sushi! No Imitation Crab Here! I now live in the East County & will drive downtown for thier sushi! The only bad thing is parking. But if you find parking it is worh the walk! A bit pricey but worth every bite!

Oh my gosh, where to begin...The sushi is fantastic, the atmosphere calming, the seaweed salad to die for! I definately recommend sitting at the bar and watching the japanese chefs create their masterpiece! The dishes are so amazingly beautiful! Also, if you order a combo, the chefs will honor your request and substitute one for another. This would make an ideal date place. I would not recommend taking small children.
