This place rocks for fresh sushi. It is so freaking good. My mouth waters thinking about it. The issue is it is expensive, the waitress can be rude and slow but the food is outstanding.

Sushi Ota may not look like much from outside but they have the best sashimi and nigiri in San Diego. Their sea urchin is spectacular. They normally have the freshest items on a crayon billboard. Order from the billboard! However, it can be expensive if you get carried away.

Tables at this place are always in such high demand that they have to kick you out as soon as the food has disappeared from the table. They also seem to be nicer if someone Japanese is in your party. That being said, the sushi is fantastic. This is always where I take out-of-towners and clients.

I've been here a handful of times and at the recommendation of many people. The food is good, not fantastic. Service is ok, but certainly not friendly. I don't know why this place is such a favorite. Don't get me wrong, the food is fine, but nothing worth standing in queue or making a reservation

They really do serve the freshest sushi in San Diego...at least from my experience. Try to get a seat at the sushi bar..you will be exposed to specials that you might not hear about if you sit in the normal seating. A little pricey...but so worth it.

Make sure you have a reservation! Always busy but worth the wait. The freshest fish available. If you can, sit at the sushi bar and ask for specials.

Great food and service. The sushi is extremely fresh! The workers are wonderful and very freindly. You will pay for the quality and freshness of the fish!

Make sure you make reservations--this place gets packed! I never would have guessed the food here would be so great! My friend from Japan actually recommended this restaurant and I can see why. Everything was perfect. I loved how everything was presented--very modern.

Hands down. There is no competition for this place when it comes to quality sushi. It's crowded and expensive, but completely worth it. For about $20 you get a pretty large combo platter of all sorts of different fish. The quality is simply amazing, and I haven't found anywhere else in San Diego that is comparable. Go to this place, order your favorite sushi and a bottle of nice Sake (they have a great sake selection) and you will not regret it.
