After seeing the results of a poor home inspectors tv shows like Holmes on Homes, we knew that finding a good home inspector was important. We chose TBK(Ken) because he had an additional certification from ASHI, was highly rated on angies list, was on NPR as a mold expert, and answered all of our pre-home inspection questions. On the day of the inspection he arrived early. He took us through all areas of the house, and pointed out several items/repairs that we would did not notice, how to address them, whether a contractor would be necessary, and the severity of the consequences if the repairs were not addressed. Ken also gave us the option of inspecting the crawl space with him and provided us with respirators and suits. I thought this was a very informative experience and we learned a lot about the current status of the house. It was here where we found the biggest problems. Throughout the entire inspection Ken was open to any questions that we had. As first time home-buyers we had a lot of them. The property was a short-sale and headed toward foreclosure so we had anticipated that many repairs would be needed. However, we had significantly underestimated the cost. After the completion of the home inspection, he wrote a very detailed report (with pictures) of all the issues he had pointed out. In conclusion, Ken(TBK) was great. We would use him again for any home inspection in the future.
