The original Taco Mac, this location has been serving the Virginia Highland community since it all started back in 1979 when a couple of guys from Buffalo, NY made a pit stop in Atlanta on their way to Florida. After touring the city and enjoying the weather they decided to stay. All they had was a little cash and a great idea to bring a popular northern cuisine to the sunny South. Now they just needed a location to get the ball rolling. It didn't take long to find the perfect spot, a quaint.. little taco shack on the corner of Virginia and North Highland Avenues - now known as Virginia-Highland. It is a quiet neighborhood, tucked away like a well-kept secret, and one that welcomed Taco Mac as the neighborhood hangout.
Taco Mac offers the most "Craft on Draft"" with over 100 taps of craft and local brews, casual American fare, like fresh never frozen buffalo wings, and 35+ HD TVs for watching all your favorite sports. Started in 1979 by two friends who found their way from Buffalo, NY to the warmer and sunnier Atlanta, Taco Mac has grown from those humble beginnings to over 30 locations across the Southeast.
This can be an excellent place to stop in and grab some food or it can suck. The food is great and the prices are pretty good. The beer selection is great for the highlands area but they're put to shame by their own stores. The Taco Mac on Peachtree has hundreds of beers and an entire wall of taps. You get spoiled after a while, you know? The patio seating is perfect on a beautiful day but there aren't many seats and a lot of people feel the same way. It can be a tight spot to find a seat but it can be worth the wait. Trivia night is fun. The service can be really poor on some nights. Either too much to do and not enough people or you just get someone who doesn't care at all. It can also be good. Overall, the location is so small you take a 50/50 chance going there.

Taco Mac is a great place to enjoy a very casual and surprisingly relaxing dinner. The food quality is very good and the waitresses and waiters are nice. I would reccomend for a casual evening out.

Taco Mac in Virginia-Highland has the best beer and wings in town. It's a great place to watch a big game or just meet up with a bunch of friends. The only negative is that they don't take reservations, which sometimes leads to a long wait for a table.

My soccer team and I go here after games every week. The menu is American cuisine/Mexican food and has something for everybody. They also have a very extensive beer menu and loads of big screen TVs.

Everyone knows about the great beer selection at Taco Mac, but the secret is their great wings. I am a true fan. The main problem with this place is there is not enough parking.

Taco Mac has a varied menu and staff that you get to know and who help with your beer choices. Our beer taste buds have blossomed from our trips to Taco Mac. The Va Highland store can be hard to park at, but is so close to our house.

Taco Mac is a great place for a casual sit-down dinner or to catch a game. Their beer selection is phenomenal and you can't beat their "beer of the month" deals...

The biggest problems I find with this location are 1) There's not much seating, so it gets VERY crowded; 2) They're constantly out of a large portion of their beer list. The service is pretty good, though, and the beer list is still better than the majority of places, even taking their missing beers into consideration. I've never been thrilled with Taco Mac's food, but the food here is as good as any other Taco Mac.
