I went to the Tavern on Mill last weekend for dinner and drinks with a group of my friends. I had seen and heard of it several times but this was my first time trying it. First of all, the location is excellent. It is located right in the heart of downtown Tempe on Mill Ave. This is pretty much the center of the Tempe night life scene. We arrived around 8 o'clock on Friday. It was not packed yet but there was certainly a substantial amount of people in there both at the bar and the tables. There were some great drink specials. Our server was very prompt with getting us our drinks but the food took quite a while to get out to us. However, it was worth the wait as it was all very delicious when it was ready. We chose to sit outside on the patio as there were several other smokers in the group, so that was convenient. By the time we were done with our meal it was around 10 o'clock and the place was really beginning to fill up and get lively as I imagine it stayed for the rest of the night. While it may not be the best place to have a quiet, peaceful dinner it is certainly an exciting place to enjoy some good eats and drinks with friends.

I stopped in with some family and friends during the Festival of the Arts for lunch and a beverage. We sat on the patio to enjoy the sunshine. Our server was initially quick to greet us but then took quite a while to return for our order for drinks. Food was a different story. We waited for over an hour for a sandwich! There is no excuse for that. While it was fairly busy it was not packed, in fact there were many tables open when we arrived. The server even dropped a bottle of beer on the outdoor pation that was left lying on the floor even after we left (more than an hour). Where was management? Try another spot until they can figure out how to take care of their patrons.

I love going to the Tavern on Mill. There are great drink specials and so many things to choose from on the menu. The food is a little pricey, but it's worth it. Tavern is a great place to hang out for lunch or for dinner.
