We have been taking our three poodles to Drs. Dowd and Houston for five years and they are wonderful, caring, thorough vets who take time to explain everything to us. Their staff also is courteous, caring, and interested in the pets' welfare. They know and remember our dogs by name and follow up on their care by telephone when needed.

I had a sick cat and after all the tests they still didn't have a clue what was wrong and kept adding more expenses to the list. After 2 weeks of my trying to force feed my sweetie and having to give her IV's myself we had to put her to sleep. They made a lot of money and I never had any idea what happened to my strickly indoor pure breed. One year later they had the insensitivity to send me a card reminding me it was time for her check up! They put her to sleep! Stay away from this bunch of money makers!

Dr. Houston and all the staff especially Rachel were extremely helpful in our time of need. Our dog passed away at a young age and we needed to know why. Right away the the Doctor found out how she died which was a huge relief. Then Rachel made all the arrangements with the Pet Memorial Park. They all were the most professional, respectful, and caring. We actually felt good through this tragic ordeal. Thank you Dr. Houston, Rachel, and all.

I started taking my Basset Hound, Duke, to Dr. Dowd and, while I don't pay much attention to prices, I like everything about this vet. The staff know me by name when I call, they know my dog's name and ask how he is, they make me appointments quickly and provide me with options, good advice and good care for my dog. I look forward to taking my next dog to see Dr. Dowd, too.

We tried The Pet Hospital of Tierrasanta originally because it's close but have now been going back for 15 years because the docs and staff there are great. Very caring yet professional atmosphere and Dr. Dowd especially can be a hoot! They've taken care of our dogs, cats, and guinea pigs. Highly Recommend!

The Dr's at the Pet Hospital have treated my animals for everything from teeth cleaning to cat tail removals, kidney disease, etc. They have great bedside manner, my animals are treated with loving care and I am treated with respect and given all the details of each situation. They are great! I would recommend the Pet Hospital of Tierrasanta to anyone looking for a new vet! BGW

250 words isn't enough. Terrible service. (the receptionists were sweet and that's about it) They didn't know what side of a routine x-ray was up or down but they proceeded to perform tests on our pet. One side of the lungs was clear while the other was filled with fluid. I'm no vet but that may be important when determining what the fluid/substance was. One lab assistant was afraid to touch our pet. Etc...

I have been a resident of tierrasanta for over 20 years. I use to take my dog an older beagle to the army vet on miramar base. We found this vet when the army vet would not tie my dogs tubes. We found the pet hospital. They treated us with so much respect. They called us three times during the day while my baby was in rehab. We have taken my dog there since than. She has had 3 bad teeth pulled and she just had a cancerous tumor pulled from her neck area. Dr. Dowd has been seeing her almost all the time. I was able to call the vet anytime they where open and they would answer my questions. This vet is worried about your pet. They suggest the best for your pet, but also understands your budget, so they will make up numorous estimites that may fit your budget. My dog is still living and healthy since seeing the vets at the pet hospital.

My pet was very old when we moved to the area and I had not found a vet yet. Unfortunately, I had to call this vet for unhappy reasons. The staff treated us with the utmost respect and compassion during a difficult time. Really GREAT!

I brought my cat to this vet for the first time after he had blood in his urine. I was very nervous and the staff and the doctor were extremely helpful. They got me in right away and called twice while he was there to give me updates. Everyone was very professional, very nice, and very helpful. I would definitely recommend them.
