Situated atop the historic neighborhood of Golden Hill and minutes from Downtown, the Turf Supper Club was established in the 1950's as San Diego's original grill-your-own supper club and bar. Conveniently located near the 5 and 94 freeways, this restaurant offers a comfortable lounge atmosphere with old school charm, classic cocktails, cold beers, quality meats, jukebox music, a piano, and some of the best people watching anywhere. Order a juicy steak, chicken, or salmon, marinated to.. perfection and ready for you to cook over the sizzling grill. If for some reason grilling food isn't your thing, then take a seat at the bar and enjoy Turf Supper Club for what it is at the core... one of San Diego's oldest cocktail lounges.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
Will the BMW, shiny shoes crowd, from the Gaslamp please leave? Turf is a nice gem in the hood(anything outsdie of Gaslamp, Beaches and La Jolla), a few places left to hang in and listen to Sinatra and groove. Stiff drinks,,,the way they were made BACK WHEN,,,reasoanble food. Go on weekdays; weekends are packed with *out of towners* from PB.

I love this place... anytime a friend is in town I have to take them to the Turf Club. Its a fun atmosphere and a great value. I love the beef kabobs (although they run out fast) and the dirty martinis are delicious!

Great swanky little spot that is the original cook-your-own dinner theme (The Strip Club downtown copied their concept). The vibe inside this place is what makes it special. Don't go if you are expecting Morton's or Ruth's Chris, the point here is about people having fun crowding around the grille and cooking your own meal to perfection. The bar is also quite famous for their martinis and margaritas.

This is a great place to go if youre low on cash but want a great meal. Turf Club is a place where you have a communal grill to grill your own food. With the retro-style and great great food, it calls for a great dinner for under 20 bucks!

This place has a great retro atmosphere. The food is good. It is always a fun experience. This is a great place to go with a big group, although the wait can be long. It is usually wonderfully free of tourists.

Great little neighborhood hangout. Classic retro bar (they didn't try - it's just been that way) with outstanding bartenders that are like long time friends. Grill your own dinner at the indoor grill. Enjoy a drink with the locals. It's a fun place with a few friends.

If you don't mind smelling like a cookout after you leave or having air conditioners leak on you throughout your dining experience this place might be ok with you. You'd think that since they really don't have to serve you that the service would be ok, but it really isn't. Very old, dark and dirty. Fun the first time but not really worth repeating.

If you're looking for a nice dark place to have a strong drink & good inexpensive steak, this is it...you cook it yourself so it's great to go with friends or a date...gets crowded on weekends, though, so get there early.
