I changed to UCB because of problems with my old bank. I read some online "banking satisfaction" polls and found that UCB had a high rating. After 9 months, I can only conclude that those who are satisfied with UCB do NOT use Quicken or Quickbooks, do NOT use online banking of any kind, and have the patience of Job. Let me explain: When I initially opened my accounts, I felt right at home. The staff was friendly. The fees were competitive. But I soon noticed some "fatal flaws": 1) Quicken/Quickbooks compatibility -- UCB's online banking is primitive at best. Unlike other banks, I am unable to synch with Quicken and Quickbooks in the usual automatic fashion. You can only do a manual download and manually match your transactions. Very time-consuming. 2) Customer Service --- UCB is still in the dark ages with it's 9-6 M-F Customer Service. In fact, this Kudzu review is prompted because it's Friday at 7:30pm and I am locked out of my online banking until Monday at 9am !!! Actually, since Monday is Memorial Day, it will be Tuesday morning until I can access my account. This is a pathetic demonstration of Customer No-Service when every other bank I have used has either 24-7-365 Customer Service, or at least limited weekend hours. 3) And WHY am I locked out of my online access? Well...for the 2nd time, UCB locked me out, even though I logged on correctly. Unacceptable. So it's back to my old bank. I can tolerate rudeness, but not incompetence.
