It has been several years since I used this shop but I can't imagine it's any better. Joe, the owner was somewhat "out of it back then". It took them quite a while to rebuild my caravan tranny. When I got it back,I found that the gearshift was not aligned with the proper gear . I called Joe. "We don't do that, you'll have to take it somewhere else to have that corrected" Say what? It was good when you got it and now it's not. "We don't do that." Well, 2 days after I got the van back I set out for work, drove it a couple of miles and the tranny totally quit. Joe did tow it back to his shop and fixed it eventually. This time the gear shift aligned properly. It lasted about 86,000 which is ok for a caravan. I would not recommend dealing with Joe.

United Transmission cannot defend a negative review based on a complaint from several years ago and 86,000 miles of use.
We do not remember an occurrence with an unaligned gearshift.
We find the review to be both mis-documented and a personal slur to Joe who, in over 50 years of business, has made every effort to be fair and to please customers.

Had my car towed when it died. They took a look at it and recommended I take it to the dealership because of a known issue which is covered by the dealer. Glad he (Joe) told me instead of fixing it and charging me!!

I went to Joe because of the reviews I saw online. I was having trouble with car and took it two other shops before going to United. Joe immediately stated he would have his tech diagnosis and assured they could fix the problem. The staff was very friendly and explained the problem to me in terms I could understand. Even though I decided not to invest the money in a 12 year old car, Joe was extremely kind and didn't charge me a fee for the diagnostic. Great service!!

After reciving a referral from a trusted body shop we took our 2000 Acura here for a second opinion. Joe was wonderful. He gave us an honest assessment of what it would cost to rebuild our transmission (the dealer quoted us 2X Joe's price). We ultimately decided it was not worth investing in a 12.5 yr old car and Joe did not even charge us the diagnostic fee which we would have been more than happy to pay. We highly recommend United Transmission!!

I went to several transmission shops in town and got very expensive quotes to replace my transmission. A friend of mine had gotten his transmission fixed from United Transmission and he was very satisfied with the work they did , so he recommended I call them too. I took my car to get an estimate and Joe, the owner, was very reasonable in his price. I told Joe to go ahead and replace the transmission. This was several months ago and I have been very pleased...no problems with the transmission. Sooo if you need transmission work I would go to only one place...United Transmission 350 Marietta Street 404-524-8431... ask for Joe's faithful dog, "Lucky."

We recently brought in our 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee which has 110,000 miles. It was purchased about one month ago from a private owner whom we personally know. He was very upfront with us in that he took the vehicle to AAMCO to have the transmission checked out. They told him that he needs a complete rebuild and it would cost $1,800. So with that in mind we took the Jeep to United Transmission for a second opinion. After a 30 minute test drive followed by a computer check for error codes, the mechanic told us there is nothing wrong with the transmission. I did share with him what AAMCO told us and he was very firm that they would not recommend any repairs be made. He also did not charge for the check up or his time. Quite frankly I was floored. I've not had that kind of "HONEST" communication at many automotive repair shops. I can see why the owner has been in business since the early 1960s. He is a charming fellow "Joe" who enjoys getting to know his customers. I highly recommend you taking your vehicle to United Transmission. Thanks Again Joe...

Joe and his gang at united charged me $2500to replace my transmission. The next week they had to put a new one in. Then 2 more "rebuilt" transmissions in my car over the course of a year until the warenty time period was up. Transmission is still broken and they refuse to do anything! Out 2500 and still car does not work right!

I have read many other reviews, which I was told were posted by Joe and his crew, because I spent sooo much time with them over the course of last year. I believe I know why some were good. Joe the owner is old and his mind has left him to put it kindly. He has let his shop slip out of his control. I believe he might have been a reputable place years ago but that time has past. Do not waist your time and money here! O, I gave hime 2 stars for service because the serviced my car with BROKEN transmissions so many times.

He kept my car for 3 months, and did not fix it. He said it was 45$ to look at it, 90$ to tow it in, then tried to charge us 200$ for a better look at it. Then he way over qouted the cost of a transmission then lowered it a grand to look nice. It was crazy. Then he kept my car for 3 months and never fixed it. Horrible awful shop

These guys are alright with me!!! My 2002 Rodeo was driving like someone was hitting me in the back when I would accelerate, especially when I would first drive it cold. David diagnosed it as two quarts short of transmission fluid. They added the fluid, free of charge and took care of me as if I was an old customer. I was referred to them from my mechanic and I am so glad because I will use them if I have to again, which I hope I won't, and I will recommend them to everyone I know. They may be located close to downtown Atlanta, but they give you that small town feel. Great customer service. Thanks so much David and Joe. You guys are a great team!!!

We had the transmission of our 2002 Chrysler Town and Country rebuilt by United Transmission in Feb 2009 and got the standard 12 month/12,000 mile warranty. In August of 2010 we started having a different transmission problem and even though our warranty had expired 6 months earlier, Joe and the crew at United took care of us free of charge. Turns out their supplier of torque converters was not providing quality products and they have since changed to a better supplier. They may not have a fancy waiting room or a new building, but they do provide great customer service.

These guys tell you to go online and check reviews, probably because they wrote most of these themselves. Joe will quote you a price way above normal, hoping you say yes, then after you freak out he'll make himself seem like the hero by dropping it. They also kept my car for over a week and a half diagnosing and fixing it. I wish I had taken it somewhere else, but I was in a bind, and Joe and co. exploited it. Don't go here. Joe is a crook. (they tell you they will only charge $45 to diagnose it, but then they'll need a closer look to give you an accurate quote which costs $200... - a scheme because they know that commits you to staying there since the 200 goes towards repairs)

I was referred to United Transmission by my auto mechanic of more than a decade.Turns out, after a test drive, that my transmission isn't in dire straits. United Transmission gave me diagnostic tips & didn't charge. They'll be my #1 stop when my transmission does start to fail. Honest, nice, and efficient.
