I used to go to Virginia Auto until they began charging $100 - $200 for ALL diagnostics. (AKA last visit they wanted $200 just to look at my car) I confronted them on the $200 charge JUST to look at my car, and they claimed that they would deduct money if the repairs made matched their diagnostic. So HOPEFULLY it will match, or you'll be popped with a $100 - $200 charge. If you don't believe me, give them a call. They will briefly mention this ridiculous diagnostic charge when you call to make an appointment or drop off your car. Listen carefully, because they will say it faster than a commercial stating the side effects of a drug. I will admit, they do a pretty good job - but the price does not match the work they do. With this economy, trust me go somewhere else.

I chose Virginia Auto Service for their great reviews and they are BBB approved. My Ford Focus had an overheating problem so I left for about 4-5 hours. They charged me about $50 to test it & $20 for a 'faulty radiator cap!' I paid $82 bucks altogether. What really got me upset was when driving home, (less than a week after I took it to Virginia's)smoke started coming out of the hood! So I took it somewhere else where they told me it had a water leak. So $82 bucks for NOTHING.

Matt and his people have been keeping my car in perfect condition for a number of years. I wouldn't go anywhere else. The shop is the cleanist I have ever been in and everyone is friendly and courteous

Virginia will go above and beyond. I have had a lot of work done on my cars and have always been satisfied. I know that they have had to put more time into finding parts or causes for my mechanical problems yet they have stuck to their estimate. I have appreciatted them telling me what else may need attention. The shop is very clean and all that work there have been great. Not one person portrayed a bad attitude. This has been my reapair shop for years and will continue to be my repair shop in the future.

horrible people. way over priced. they want 50 bucks just to look at your car. then they wanted 350 bucks more to put new headlight connecters on.(an $18 part) the dealer did it for 130. They didn't want to give my car back to me even while paying the 50 bucks. while insinuating that the dealer service and I were stupid. LIke the dealer doesn't know their own cars. Me? i am stupid, this was the second time I let them look at my car.

I recently took my Audi to Virginia Auto Service for a routine oil change. The staff was both courteous and professional. The value of the work and service performed was definitly worth the price. I will be bringing my car back here instead of the dealership from now on for repairs and routine maintenance.

After reading the review "Trying to take your money" posted by mzsunrize, I had to make a comment. I have been going to Virginia Auto for years now. Matt and the team are upfront about everything. When my car is serviced I usually get a call from Matt or Tim just before it is complete. They give me a list of things that needs attention now or soon. Virginia Auto would be irresponsible if they did not do a complete check and advise you of possible issues. I see this as integrity and a value add! We are all hesitant when repair shops come up with "the list" because most of us have been ripped off in the past. Look, if you disagree with a suggestion about your repair, just ask for an explanation. Do not be defensive! Listen to the explanation, ask to see the issue, ask for alternatives and if they could assist in finding a payment plan if needed. A while ago, I took my truck to Just Brakes and saved a lot on the new master cylinder and their "list" of extras. My repairs worked for 13 months and then started the leaking. BAD! I realized my mistake by saving 300 bucks. I got what I paid for. I got ripped off. I wanted to offer a shout out to Matt and the guys at Virginia Auto. Matt has been servicing the historic area of Phoenix for many years. I have used them on several occasions and they preformed excellent work at a very fair price. They are very professional and honest and I highly recommend them.

My family used Virginia Auto without probs for years. Then, I brought the car in for a transmission fluid drain and refill where they use a machine that is supposed to do that. Within a week, I had to stop into a shop while I was out because the tranny was acting funny. THERE WAS NO TRANNY FLUID AT ALL! I thought it was a leak, but we filled it and Virginia told me there was no leak. I told them the story, and they seemed to not believe me because the machine fills it up again. The car lasted about another week, but the tranny was damaged too bad. Virginia never took any responsibility. I was left without a car.

Matt is awesome! He genuinely cares about his customers and his staff. In the waiting area, there is a notebook filled with all the customer testimonials they have collected. Pretty cool . . . I love referring my friends. They always tell me how great they were treated at Virginia Auto.

I bought in my car for brake service and they quoted me $800, plus they were trying to sell me every other service they had. I told them my budget and they couldnt meet it so I got the work done some place else WAY under budget and for half of what they quoted me. I ended up spending $130 for just for them to LOOK at it.

Dear Kudzu Readers,
I am the owner of Virginia Auto Service. Upon finding this post, I immediately began to search our records to determine who would say anything less than stellar about their experience at Virginia Auto Service. With more than 13 years on the corner of Virginia and 7th Street, a unique two year warranty on all of our work and a staff that has been with us for more than 10 years, a complaint is a rare thing.
I pulled the paperwork from the customer who made the post. At the time of service write up the customer stated the following.
* Customer states the brakes are grinding. Also when driving in town or long distance, the vehicle will overheat (Boil over) and the gauge remains on normal.
Upon inspection of the vehicle, we found the following brakes problems.
* The front brakes pads are worn out and grinding into the brake rotors. The brake pads and rotors need to be replaced and the wheel bearing repacked and the seal replaced. The rear brakes are ok, they just need to be cleaned and adjusted.
We also noted the following about the vehicle condition.
* The inside V belt is cracking and the other belts have minor cracks. The transmission pan gasket is seeping and it appears someone used a silicone at one time to seal the leak. All four tires have dry rot cracking and the right front may have a separated belt. The wiper blades are in poor condition.
And we added this to the work order for her to sign.
* This vehicle is not safe to drive until brake repairs are completed and suggest towing the vehicle.
As part of our values at Virginia Auto Service, we always have and always will inform the customer of appropriate repairs for their immediate concern and notify them if/when other work is needed, especially in a case where the vehicle is not safe
to drive. Bad brakes, worn and rotted tires along with dry and cracked belts compromise the safety of the customer and others on the road.
It would have been irresponsible for us to not encourage this customer to make repairs beyond the brakes. The vehicle was in disrepair and not safe to drive.
So, to make a long story short, we charged this customer $49.94 for testing plus a radiator cap for $13 +/-. Instead of posting a couple hundred testimonials about our service standards and pricing to refute this one post, I invite you to Virginia Auto Service BEFORE you need us.
