Established in 2006
Boston didnt have any good places to train with everything under one roof. If you wanted good Muay Thai, you went to one school, if you wanted good jiu jitsu, you had to go to a separate school.
Then, a team was formed, and some of the top instructors in the nation came together to make the first complete MMA school in Boston. Since Wai Kru's success many other gyms have tried to follow Wai Kru's lead, but to no avail.
Meet the Business Owner: Kru John A.
Kru John's exposure to mixed martial arts began with wrestling & progressed on to Muay Thai kickboxing. After wrestling at Worcester Poly-Tech, John transfered to Boston College. It was at this point John began his Muay Thai training.
After 4 years in the US, he traveled to Japan, Brazil Thailand to continue his training. John then moved to Thailand, where he lived & trained for another 3 1/2 years along side some of Thailand & the world's toughest fighters. Making Muay Thai his life, and visiting some 20 training camps from Loas to Thailand, John exposed himself to both very well known as well as obscure boxing camps & each of their techniques. Kru John is certified by the Kru Muay Thai Association, a recognized division of the National Culture Commission of Thailand.
Currently the Head MMA coach, with names training under him like John "Doomsday" Howard of the UFC, Kru John led the Wai Kru MMA fight team to an impressive record in 2009 of 65-10 & the Muay Thai team to 18-3
I always get a great work out here and the instructors are very good. They actually pay attention to you and help you reach your goals... my goal as a woman was to learn self defense and loose some pounds. The instructors kept me going even when i wanted to quit and i love them for that! Thank You Guys!
