1817 2nd Ave, (@ 94th St)New York, NY 10128

More than a place to pick up a quick cup of coffee or sweet treat, Ziggie's Café opened it's doors at 1817 Second Avenue (on the corner of 94th Street) on December 27. While the coffees, pastries, cakes and quiches are exceptional, Chris Zigomalas, president and CEO of Ziggie's Café, has a goal to make it a vital addition to the neighborhood. "The Upper East Side above 86th Street is fast becoming a hot neighborhood and we're thrilled to open its first true coffeehouse," says Zigomalas. .. "Ziggie's Café is a place where people want to come to enjoy their food, meet their friends and relax. Once people come to Ziggie's Café, it will be a place they will look forward to visiting again. It will become an important part of their weekly routine." Ziggie's Café is a warm, comfortable, and well-lit space with cushy couches and chairs, as well as traditional chairs and tables. It is designed for those who either wish to linger with friends or a book, or stop in for a break on a busy day. Monthly art exhibits, which feature creations from local artists, complement the visitors' attractive surroundings. With all the importance placed on the comfort and ambiance of Ziggie's Café, Zigomalas insists that the food comes first. "With everything we offer to enhance the experience, the food is why people will come to Ziggie's. Our coffees, pastries, cakes and quiches are the best and freshest in the neighborhood." Local Entertainment and Cultural Events An extensive list of events are planned for the coming weeks, including: Afternoon Story Time Hour for kids and their parents featuring Sammie and Tudie (a local husband and wife childrens entertainment team), Performances by local jazz, rock, country, international and folk musicians, Appearances by the sophisticated gender illusionist Madame Gillette MontBlanc, Open mike and poetry reading nights, and a schedule of monthly art exhibits by local artists that is booked into May A full monthly schedule of events and times is forthcoming. Cakes for Any Occasion, Delivery and Catering Available Ziggie's Café has an assortment of fresh cakes that can be personalized for any occasion. These can be picked up or delivered free of charge to neighborhood locations between 86th and 98th Streets, and 1st and 5th Avenues. Free delivery for all orders is also available within the neighborhood. Ziggie's Café offers catering services where any assortment of coffees, teas, pastries, cakes, and quiches will be delivered fresh and on time to add a special touch to any home or office event. Before opening Ziggie's Café, native New Yorker Chris Zigomalas spent more than twenty years in the marketing, finance, and global operations of the wireless and banking industries. During that time, he lived in St. Louis, Boston and Washington, D.C. "Settling back in New York with my wife and kids and opening Ziggie's is the realization of a lifelong dream," says Zigomalas. "The events of September 11 caused a delay in the plans to open, but it never crossed my mind to not open. Like many New Yorkers in business, the tragedy just increased my resolve to create something constructive and positive in the city I love and grew up in."
