We chose Mark the Mover on the recommendation of a friend. It was a great decision to use this company. Everyone I had contact with was professional, polite and upfront with me on what to expect. We scheduled our move 1 week before our move in date, but during that time we realized that we needed another truck. When I called back I was told that a 2nd truck would be no problem and Glenn suggested that we add another mover, this was a good decision. On the day of our move Coleman Cook and his crew - Deion "Duke" Madison, D'Marko Edwards, Andrew Higgins, and Pierre Zuzu arrived on time and worked tirelessly, and carefully to move our furniture and belongings to our new home. NOTHING was damaged. These men were very pleasant and worked hard the entire time it took to move us from Douglasville to Dallas, Georgia. They didn't complain when we asked them to move several pieces after we arrived in Dallas. The cost of the move was reasonable and the best money we spent in our move. I highly recommend Mark the Mover. Claudia Hutchins

I would be very cautious before using Mark the Mover. I made the costly mistake of not getting a written estimate and I was charged over $4,000 for a two bedroom condo to be moved into storage. Since they billed me for 11 1/2 hours to pack & load a two bedroom condo (with no appliances and no sofas), this mistake will end up costing me thousands of dollars. Needless to say, my recent move has been a terrible experience. Now I'm being told it will be another $800 to simply release my things from storage and stack them at the edge of their loading dock for me to pick up. Don't let this happen to you. I will be filing a formal complaint with the GA Dept of Public Safety based on the actions of Mark the Mover. I hope my situation informs others: Buyer beware!

Unfortunately this customer continues to use the internet to badger and harass our company by making derogatory postings. Although we don't intend to use this forum to engage in a quid pro quo exchange we will make this response to clarify the matter.
From the onset we have found it extraordinarily difficult and challenging to work with this customer. While we treat all consumers with courtesy, dignity and respect, this individual seems to feel that his position as a Georgia lobbyist affords him special privileges. We have treated him fairly and billed him in accord with the services that were provided. In other words his move and our dealings with him have been no different than any other regular customer. However for someone expecting entitlement, we obviously did not accommodate his expectation. Despite our fair treatment he has willfully used his influential contacts within government and business to tie up our staff. This unnecessary disruption has distracted us from being able to fully conduct our day to day business.
We would like to point out that all our staff members are well trained consummate professionals. We hire and employ only the best. All Mark the Mover employees are thoroughly skilled in their designated area of expertise. So when this customer states that he intends to file a grievance with the regulatory authority that governs the Georgia moving industry: we welcome the news.
We have on staff the former Director of the governmental regulatory authority that oversees the moving industry. With 10 years of experience in the field, he has conducted a comprehensive internal audit of the customer's file. All our actions involving rules, rates and charges are within reason and are compliant with the governing authority's specifications. Therefore we are confident that once the governing body conducts its own external review, we will be exonerated and the customer's complaint rendered baseless.
In conclusion we would like to say that we are considering filing our own grievance with the Georgia Professional Lobbyists Association. It is our understanding that all members must abide by a professional code of conduct. When one attempts to use their position as leverage in a threatening manner, in a private business matter, we believe this to be unprofessional, unethical and a conflict of interest. This may be something that the Georgia Professional Lobbyists Association Standards and Conduct Committee wishes to review for possible disciplinary action.
I used this company to move one bedroom set from my father's assisted living facility to my home. The distance from the facility to my home was about 13 miles. The total move consisted of a bed, a dresser, a side table, a bookcase, and two boxes. When I booked the move, they told me the hourly cost was $135. I told the sales rep I estimated that it would take no more than 2 hours; he wrote 2-3 hours in the paperwork. However, they ended up taking more than 3 hours to complete the move and charged me $438. That's $438 to move a single set of bedroom furniture only about 13 miles. When I called to ask about the unexpected cost, they would not adjust the bill, and the sales rep told me they had done me a favor by not charging for travel time and they could have charged me more. I feel that a charge of more than $400 for such a small job is unacceptable and I told them I would not have used this company had I know the cost would be so high. By comparison, Peach Movers only charged me about $500 to move 3 rooms worth of furniture a few years ago. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

As with all customer concerns we thoroughly reviewed Katherine Smallwood's comments to determine if her moving assessment warranted consideration. After a complete investigation we found that Ms. Smallwood's critique is without merit.
Ms. Smallwood's grievance is over the cost of the move. She erred in stating that she was told that the move was expected to take 2 - 2 hours. Written documents pertaining to her move confirm that she was advised that her move was expected to take between 2 to 3 hours. She was further advised that the actual moving time may vary dependent upon a number of factors. Her move wound up taking 3 hours so our pre-move estimate was off by a mere hour or $33.75. We feel confident that a lawyer such as Ms. Smallwood is fully capable of comprehending our moving documentation so her assertion that she had an "unexpected cost" seems somewhat disingenuous.
When Ms. Smallwood called to complain about her bill, our salesman advised her that the charges were in fact accurate and that the bill could have indeed been higher. Many licensed Georgia movers impose a minimum charge for weekend labor plus they assess a 1 hour travel time fee. We did not charge Ms. Smallwood for any add on fees. She was only charged for the straight time that our crew was on the clock.
In the final analysis we determined that Ms. Smallwood's issue over her bill is unfounded and baseless. She was provided with a service which was fair and reasonable. The job was successfully completed without damage or mishap and it was done at an agreed to price which was spelled out in the required documentation that we provided.
I hired Mark the Move to move our belongings to a new house in the same area. During the course of moving items out of my old house, they broke a leg off of one of my dressers. The movers decided that they needed to take off the other 3 legs and base trim for the dresser to stand in the truck. After they moved our belongings into the new house, they kept the legs and base trim from my dresser and took those with them. I reported the damage claim to Mark the Mover and also informed the office that the movers took the unbroken 3 legs and base trim. Mark the Mover told me that they had my property, but never offered to return it. I informed them that those pieces are not damaged and needed to repair my dresser. Mark the Mover finally responded to my request for my property by saying that they would give the property back to me, but I had to pay a delivery charge. So, in short, they took my property and want me to pay them in order to get it back. Avoid at all costs! You can find far more reputable movers in the metro area.

We read Ashley Oblinger's assertions with great interest. Regrettably his description of what occurred is entirely inaccurate. While we strongly support a customer's right to express their opinion, we do not feel that a customer has the right to create their own facts. With this in mind we would like to set the record straight and base what actually happened on accurate information.
Mr. Oblinger's chest of drawers was damaged during his move. At his instruction we took the damaged chest of drawers parts back to our facility for possible repair. We promptly sent him a Claim Form so he could provide us with a comprehensive listing for all damage that he wanted to report. Four days after his move Mr. Oblinger sent in his Claim Form. At that time Mark the Mover reviewed the damage contract that he signed. We immediately offered him a full cash settlement in accord with his contract or the option of repair. Subsequent to the initial offer we have asked him on four other occasions whether he prefers a cash payment or repair of his chest of drawers. Unfortunately Mr. Oblinger's lack of cooperation has turned an otherwise simple claim into a quagmire.
As far as his comment that we took his property (damaged chest of drawer parts) and insisted that he pay us a delivery charge for returning the parts, that is quite simply a false statement. A direct quote of what we sent him in writing is as follows: "There is an expense incurred any time a delivery is made. Therefore I would like to know exactly how to resolve your claim before taking the next step. Once you advise me as to what your preference is for handling your claim, repair or cash payment, then I will be glad to promptly take care of this matter for you." Mr. Oblinger was never told that he had to pay a delivery cost on his damage claim as that is an expense that we bear.
Finally, in Mr. Oblinger's written statement he claims that the chest of drawer parts was not damaged. They are in our possession and they are damaged. This is why he instructed us to take them back to our facility. We simply want to repair the damaged chest of drawers or pay him for the loss. As of this writing we are still waiting for Mr. Oblinger to cooperate so we can settle his claim.
Terrible, if there was a way to leave zero stars, I would. They came out on a Saturday, and worked as slowly as possible, I was carrying out chairs to the truck to speed things along. They left behind multiple items and did not check the house before leaving. Worst of all, one of the movers clogged a toilet and left a mess of toilet paper and feces and did not tell me about it or attempt to clean it up himself. I called the company the next day, Sunday to complain and left a message, and as of Thursday have not called back. Use them if you want them to be late, over priced, and leave behind item and a clogged toilet, if not, use someone else

We are disappointed to find that the customer posted a negative review on our website. Her comments prompted our immediate investigation into the accusations that were made. Upon conducting a thorough review of the circumstances related to her move, our findings simply do not support the validity of her criticism.
The first issue that the customer raises pertains to the timeliness and efficiency of her move. Our records confirm that the crew arrived on time and that they were not late as the customer has suggested. With regards to the efficiency of the move, our crew members reported that the customer's constant interference during the course of the move caused unnecessary delays. Additionally the customer was quite disorganized and confused about where certain items should be placed. Despite these complications our crew finished the move ahead of schedule. When the move was booked the customer was given a four to six hour estimated time of completion. Our crew finished the job within the specified time having completed the work in 5.5 hours.
The customer also alleged that one of our crew members clogged her toilet. Despite her use of an expletive, (censored by Kudzu), to describe and sensationalize the accusation we found no evidence to confirm this claim. Our review of the matter indicates that none of our crew members clogged the toilet as was stated.
It should be noted that there was another individual on site during the course of the move. A cleaning lady was at the residence while our crew members were performing their duties. We learned that the cleaning lady made disparaging remarks about our crewman's character then insinuated that she should pick up her phone so that it wouldn't turn up missing. Still later she tried to get our crew to work off the clock and under the table for her own benefit. Our feeling is that such an individual should not be questioning anyone's character.
The customer also indicated that we did not respond to her telephone call. Our Sales Manager confirmed that he did in fact return the customer's call the next morning.
We would respectfully suggest that the customer ascertain all the facts before making any accusations. Additionally we would suggest that she check with the cleaning lady in order to determine how the toilet may actually have become clogged.
The sales person comes to home, takes a ridiculous 80 minutes to assess my move. Can't quote me a price and 1 week later I'm still waiting

We have reviewed this grievance with the salesman that was involved and found that there were extenuating circumstances with this quote. First, the house was quite sizable and it required a detailed walk through with the resident. The potential move was complicated by the fact that the furnished residence was to be downsized from a 6,000 sq. ft home to a 2,000 sq. ft. home while some items were to be stored at an undetermined location. Due to the nature of the move extra care and attention was provided while conducting the walk thorough.
We do pride ourselves on giving customers timely and accurate quotes and typically we have a written estimate in hand within 48 hours. Our services are in high demand and due to heavy volume this individual experienced a slight delay in receiving her quote. Despite that our salesman still provided the customer with a written estimate within 4 business days. So while we were slightly tardy in meeting our standard the customer did receive reliable information.
We are thorough in our efforts to provide customers with a quick and reliable estimate and we regret any inconvenience that this person may have experienced. Should she reconsider and decide to book a move with us, we are confident that she will enjoy the same high quality service that thousands of other Mark the Mover customers have experienced.
Mark the mover can be summed up like this. The crew was very friendly and helpful. BUT, when we started to get everything arranged in our home, we then discovered not one, not two but every piece of furniture they touched, was either scratched, dinged or nicked. Yes, they will moved boxes, but they did not tell us, the boxes should be made of wood. Every box they touched was crushed, not to say what was inside of it. And let us not forget, do not let them moved loose items left in the basement. Just stacked anything and everything in what ever they could find to put it in. So, if you want a friendly crew to move you and you do not care if all of your furniture is some how defaced, USE MARK THE MOVER. We moved from Boston Ma to Savannah Ga - Savannah Ga to Kernersville NC - Kernersville, NC to Greensboro, NC - Greensboro, NC to Duluth GA apartment - Duluth GA apartment to a Home in Duluth - Duluth GA - to Suwanne GA Not a scratch on anything UNTIL Mark the Mover I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM

We are disappointed to learn that Mr. Wilkinson feels like his move did not go as well as it should. We are also surprised at the comments he now makes as upon completion of the move he acknowledged in writing that there were, "no problems - everything went smooth." Such a contradiction caused us to investigate.
In his narrative Mr. Wilkinson claims that, "every piece of furniture they touched was either scratched, dinged or nicked." It is unlikely that every piece of furniture was damaged. The improbability of this is supported by the fact that no transit related damage was reported by either the moving crew or Mr. Wilkinson upon completion of the move. A damage report is completed and signed by the customer upon finalization of the move. This is done at the time of the final walk through inspection with the customer. Surely if the extent of the damage that Mr. Wilkinson now claims had been so evident then it would have been noticed at that time.
Also it is not uncommon for customers to mistakenly believe that transit related damage occurred when in fact scratches, nicks or dings are actually attributable to pre-existing damage. Customers typically don't pay attention to pre-existing furniture damage which may have been present months or years beforehand. However when furnishings are placed in a new environment and a close inspection is done then any flaws or blemishes become noticeable.
With regards to the issue of packing and the comment that, "every box they touched was crushed," a thorough review of the move circumstances revealed the following information:
The customer was packed by owner which is not something that moving companies generally recommend. The reason that this is discouraged is because of the specific problems that Mr. Wilkinson has cited. If a box is not properly packed, for example if it's not fully packed, then it can easily become crushed during handling and transport. Couple this with the fact that Mr. Wilkinson used his own boxes as opposed to the high quality boxes that Mark the Mover uses then damage is likely to occur.
Although we take every criticism seriously we would be remiss if we failed to point out that all household goods moves are subject to risk. We recommend that all potential customers do their own pre-move inspection in order to itemize and document any pre-existing damage. We also suggest that customers leave the packing to the professionals.
Finally, there is a system in place which addresses the concerns of customers that feel like their belongings were damaged by a mover. If in fact damage is attributable to transit related cause then a remedy can be made contingent upon the level of coverage that the customer selected in their damage contract. We would encourage Mr. Wilkinson to contact our Claims Manager for clarity on issues pertaining to pre-existing damage, transit related damage and packed by owner liability.
I just used Mark the Mover for a move in Metro Atlanta. From the moment I contacted them they were professional, courteous and responsive. I was given an accurate quote over the phone and They showed up on time with two trucks and two crews. I had to store my belongings on the trucks for two nights due to my closing schedules and when the crews saw that i really didn't have enough to fill two trucks they went out of their way to take the time to get everything on a single truck reducing my costs for storage substantially. In the end, due to their extra effort, i came in below my quoted price. Each person on the job came up to me, introduced themselves and shook my hand. They were all courteous, helpful and actually cheerful the entire job. The best way i can describe it was as an old school customer service experience. All of our items were wrapped extensively and moved with care. Everything arrived in tact and the team set everything back up and made sure we were happy before heading out. I would not hesitate to refer Mark the Mover to handle your move. Outstanding!

I've used Mark the Mover twice, and sure, paying for movers is expensive, but I think their rates are competitive. They arrived promptly, made appropriate accommodations to ensure my pieces arrived in good condition and worked very hard. I was very pleased with their hard work.

Mark the Mover helped with my 8th move and they were the best movers we have ever had. The entire crew was very professional. One mover, Mario, stands out as the epitome of excellent customer service. We recommend Mark the Mover.

Do not ever hire these guys to move you into a storage facility. They will overcharge you for moving pads to the extent that your actual expenses will be twice their estimate. These folks are not your friends - in spite of what they tell you,

While we regret that Dr. Deane was not 100% pleased with his moving experience, we would like to take the opportunity to provide some correction and clarity to his comments.
Dr. Deane's only issue is over the cost that resulted from his move. He acknowledges that his moving team was efficient and courteous. No damages occurred while his furnishings were in our care, custody, and control. Dr. Deane's sole grievance is that the move was "very expensive."
First, the moving industry in Georgia is regulated by state and federal authorities. Pricing is structured so that excess is not allowed. The industry is tightly controlled and clear communication between consumer and mover is a requirement. It is not an option, it is mandatory. This is why we disseminate multiple and redundant sources of information to our customers.
Prior to his move Dr. Deane was provided with a written statement of acknowledgement which spelled out the terms and conditions of his move. The written form coincided with the oral arrangement that he made with our salesman. Presumably Dr. Deane read the material that we provided.
Our estimate was for 4 to 6 hours of work. Dr. Deane's move took 5 hours to complete. The hourly rate we charged was based on the number of men and trucks we provided. Our rate is competitive and consistent with what other top Atlanta movers charge.
Dr. Deane's issue over the moving pads is noted however it does not tell the full story. Unlike some movers that simply wrap furniture in a plastic cover; we use heavy blankets which more fully protects a customer's furnishings. This of course incurs an expense as the customer is temporarily using our property. Our moving blankets sustain wear and tear and we have a right to be compensated for that depreciation. Since Dr. Deane's furnishings have been moved to a public storage facility, our blankets are temporarily out of our custody and control. Once our moving blankets are returned we will gladly refund half the blanket price so long as Dr. Deane returns the items in good condition.
We do take exception to Dr. Deane's statements about "poor customer service" and "deceptive and unethical billing practices." Mark the Mover, Inc. consistently rates among the highest in customer satisfaction of all metro Atlanta movers. So his claim about poor customer service is simply unfounded.
Additionally we do not take critical statements about our billing practices lightly. We are fully transparent and above board in all our customer dealings. We have too many satisfied customers that would disagree with Dr. Deane and would refute the notion that our standardized procedures are deceptive.
This was the first time I used a moving company. I choose Mark the Mover after several recommendations from neighbors. I was totally impressed. They were prompt, courteous, friendly, skilled and even funny. They posed for pictures in our Halloween masks and they made a difficult day a lot more enjoyable. I feel like I definitely got my money's worth and I would definitely ask for this crew on my next move!!

The A-team, Coleman, Kenya, Luis, and Francisco moved us. They are a very hardworking, professional group & they were able to squeeze all of our stuff on one truck, which is amazing. We sold our house before our new home is finished and moved to an apartment. We will definitely be calling Mark the Mover in a few months for the move from the apartment to new house and request the A-TEAM!.

We had Mark the Mover move us locally. We used them to pack the house prior to the move. The estimate for both the packing and the move were spot on. The cost was reasonable and the crew we had with Coleman as the foreman, were awesome. The guys were very personable and funny but worked extremely hard and did everything they promised and then some. We will actually use them again very soon to move more items that had to stay behind on the first move. I would definitely recommend them.
