The Costco of Indie Stores....If you're into indie music that's popular in L.A., or into most trendy popular music, this place will do it for you. Sadly, the folk and country selections are somewhat lacking. The original Amoeba Music stores in Berkeley and on Haight Street are better.

you can hear yourself think here!it's not as big as the hollywood mega music store, or as noisy, or as expensive. the dudes who ring you up are there all the time and they're not the hip, anxious to please, pretty young things you find over the hill. but they know music, they are selective in what they buy, and they play what they like at reasonable volumes so you can actually take in the considerable vinyl section. you'll also never lose the person you walked in with so that when you find a rare mississippi john hurt album for $8 you can hold it up victoriously and they can celebrate with you from across the store. there's a 99 cent section full of lightly used vinyl and cds that are worth picking through and...
