Convenient and Local
I enjoy going into this comic store because it is local for many people in the East Bay and the employees are very polite and informative about any questions you have about comics. A really great thing about this store is that if there is certain comic they don't carry, they are more than happy to do special orders.
Quirky & Cool!
When visiting San Francisco and looking for comic book shops, James Sime's ISOTOPE in Hayes Valley is one of the places to see. Clean, well lighted, and well stocked, James offers a welcoming presence to his store. My only knock is there are no back issues. Strictly for the trades and new monthly buyers. Isotope also features creator signings, toilet seat art (no, really!), and the occasional tiki tour pub crawl.
East Bay's Best Comic Shop!
When mentioning the best comic book shops in the San Francisco East Bay, Rory Root's COMIC RELIEF certainly gets mentioned but Joe Field's FLYING COLORS comes out on top. Joe and his friendly staff offer a little of everything packed into his small location. Back issues? Cheap bins? New books? Floppies? Indie books? Statues? Toys? Trades? Art books? T-Shirts? Silver Age books? Joe's got 'em all and a good rep in the industry.
