I found a ValPak coupon and brought it to Quick Smog Check in Canyon Country. The coupon read "$29.75 Smog Check plus Certificate & ETF" (see uploaded image). Based on that coupon, I expected the total to be $29.75 for the smog check, certificate and ETF. While they were testing my car, Jora asked me to sign an estimate for $40. That's a 33% increase over the advertised price! I told him I'd agree to the price, but pointed out to him that the coupon was very misleading. The word "plus" implies added value in this case, not additional expenses. If they meant the price would be $29.95 PLUS certificate and ETF, they should have phrased it as such. His response was simply, "Yeah, okay....

I have done at least the past 6 smog checks at this location, including the one today at noon. Always the same guy (I have to admit that I still don't remember his name). He is always brief and to the point, but never rude. Today, I came in gave him the keys, he explained the cost and the retest policy, asked me for my registration, and told me to sit in the waiting room for 15 minutes. 14 minutes later he was done, explained the results, stapled all the paperwork together, and advised me that cert is valid for 90 days for registration purposes, but only 60 days for transfer of ownership. I would recommend this place to friends and family.

Smog check was quick, easy and easy to find. They quoted one price with no hidden fees. I had sushi next door, which was good too :)
