Great place for Kids AND Adults!
There is a lot to love at the Chicago Childrens' Museum. The Waterways room will definitely get you wet, but you and your kids will have such fun playing with pulleys and dams to maneuver your boat along the "river." My son also enjoyed the 3-floor "schooner" that offers loads of climbing and exploring fun. Special exhibits always make this place new. Highly recommended.
What is not to love, it's free and in the middle of the city. My kids loved the polar bears. I liked the penguins.
When I worked/lived in Chicago - besides the Shedd Aquarium, the Art Institute Museum was my favorite place to visit. I'd come here alone to study the fantastic collection of art and I'd bring guests. The Monet Exhibit way back in the early 90's was worth a trip to Chicago from Ohio with our infant son - saw more Monet close up here than when we went to the Museum D'Orsay in Paris (which was WONDERFUL). Excellent art school, too.
What a way to spend a vacation. This place was very thrilling and excited. It is true that you learn something new everyday.
Best their is
This is the ultimate in museums and should interest every child and also be educational. Plan to spend the day as there is just too much to see. Whatever, you do, if you are in Chicago, be sure to visit here.
