Best yarn shop in the triangle
All I can say is, "wow" - a small, welcoming space with hundreds of different high end yarns (no acrylic here), great customer service, and loads of fans sitting and knitting &/or crocheting. An extensive selection of yarns, patterns, accessories, needles, hooks, and help. Classical music playing, people greeting, chatting, in respectful tones, all together a fantastic experience. I even got a refrigerator magnet at no charge - they have a frequent buyer program, classroom, and tons of inventory - you won't be disappointed.
Durhams Best Bead Shop
The Bead Room has the largest and best variety of semi-precious gemstones, beads and findings. This is the most awesome shop we've been to.
Great Little Yarn Store
They has since moved over to Elliot street, but this is a great yarn store. None of your run-of-the-mill yarns here. Plus there are lots of handspuns available and fiber too (if you like to spin your own.) Most (if not all) the fiber is local.
Great "User-Friendly" Gallery
Textures is a great gallery to visit downtown for anyone that may feel a bit intimidated by "the art scene". They offer a wide variety of art pieces, and are host to many treasures cerated by one of my favorite local artists, Perry Boswell.
